im sick to death of us losing our best players after the owners have said they will stay how many times have we heard it then a club come in with a so called acceptable offer then the player leaves i heard his agent said he is trying to engineer a move away why to end up on the bench somewhere when he could be vital to us getting promoted one thing i do agree with though i think we need more pace in the squad and a definate play maker in the middle of the park but remember seb,s freekicks and crosses in the box he is a well talented player we do not want to lose if any one should go i no he has been a great player in the past for us but i reckon damian johnson should go he is a liabilty now he gets to hot headed cause of so called quicker players hacks them down and get,s sent off i am however still optimistic we will get promoted but cant lose anymore players i remember when jermaine pennant said we showed faith in him and he would stay look what happenened he left i just hope larsson and mcfadden dont do the same :Blues: |

Give Pennant his due - we never heard from either him or his agent before he left so I think it was genuine, just so happened that Liverpool offered money that our board started salivating at! |

Sorry to disagree but JP was mouthing off about a move to Liverpool weeks before it happened. Whilst we heard the usual "I'm staying and saw the kissing of the shirt © All Sky Andrews Clients, he was p***ed up and mouthing off in a variety of Spanish bars about how he'd be playing for the Scousers next season. |

Sebastian Larsson told: You're going nowhere Jul 18 2008 From Colin Tattum in Austria SEBASTIAN Larsson has been told that he is wasting his time if he thinks he can engineer his departure from Blues by rocking the boat like Robbie Savage did. Larsson’s agent Per Jonsson intimated that that could be a course of action because of Blues refusal to cash in on the player-of-the season. Chairman David Gold said that Larsson would leave ‘over my dead body’, and fellow director David Sullivan gave a now famous comment to the Birmingham Mail that neither Larsson or James McFadden would be sold in the next 12 months ‘and you can quote me on that’. Jonsson has said that Larsson wants to go and ‘is it necessary for a player to become an enemy with everyone at a club in order to leave?’. Newcastle United and Blackburn Rovers have expressed interest, and Larsson hopes that Blues end up receiving an offer they simply cannot refuse. But that would have to be in the £8 million - £10 million bracket, yet today Sullivan again insisted that Larsson was going nowhere. "We hope that Sebastian Larsson understands that we intend to win promotion to the Premier League straight away and we need to keep our best players and he is one of them" said Sullivan. "But the reality is that he has no choice but to be OK with it. "Obviously his agent is trying to move him on as that’s how the agent makes his money, but we are not selling the player." Larsson has rejected a new five-year deal and Sullivan said: "He only signed a new contract a year ago. "We have offered him a new deal purely as a reward for his excellent performance last season. "If he doesn’t want to sign it, we are happy for him to stay on his existing contract." "Basically, we are asking him to honour his contract for at least another year," Sullivan added. "He is an important player for us and he is in the manager’s plans." Savage was banished to the reserves before his wish to join Blackburn for £3 million was granted, but the circumstances now are quite different. |

1. The Swedish press are convinced he will be a premiership player this season 2. 2. No comment from Seb, unlike Mc Fadden who has confirmed he is going nowhere 3. Other clubs still being linked, even though the club have issued hands off statement. 4. £4000 a week could easily be more than doubled with a move and that has got to be tempting when combined with playing premiership football. 5. Club have gone all quite on Sebs future, I expect an announcement that someone has signed him and an announcement from the board saying we did everything possible to keep Seb, we even offered him a new more lucrative contract. (will we see a dead body!) 6. I just have a gut feeling he is going :( |

Totally understand where you are coming from and the club (sully/gold) could easily go back on their ‘word’ that he won’t be sold and then offer a load of excuses as to why, but I just think the board have too much too lose by going down that route. They have already been on the wrong end of abuse last season and I’m sure after Sully ‘over my dead body comments’ the abuse would be greater if we were to sell him. IMO, for once I would like to see the club, stick to their word and keep him to his contract. We will not get much more than £6m for him and then I’m guessing 30% (£1.8m) of that will go to Arsenal. As McLeish has said, he is too good a professional not to give 100% in every game he plays regardless of contract talk, so if that is the case, lets get 100% out of him for the next 2 years and let him go at the end of it. If he wants to cut his nose off to spite his face and pick up only £4k a week then fine. There is a better contract offer waiting for him to sign if he wants, but refuses to do so. Lets get behind the lad and show him how much he means to us tomorrow. :banner: :Blues: |

If the board accepted a bid from Villa for Larsson, I think it's fair to say that some people wouldn't be very happy. |

As a suggested earlier in the thread, due to lack of genuine pace, he will not make it in a top team. He's great for a lower to middle Prem team. UNLESS, someone can convert him to a central midfielder. If they can do that, I think he could be a very good player at the top level. He's still one of the best free kick takers around, so that is worth a lot in itself. |

Seb has been truly fantastic for us. His effort and commitment have been top notch, and on top of that, he has chipped in with some goals too...not just ordinary ones, but high quality efforts that would be dribbled over had they been scored by Rooney, Ronaldo or the like. The fact is, if he is not happy, and wants to go, we shouldn't stand in his way. Us digging our heels in will not improve the players state of mind. We all saw a different Larsson against Sheff Utd, and it's one that was way below what we have come to expect. Gold would be better off saying that whilst we would love to keep him, and it's our intention to keep him, if an offer comes in within our valuation (xxxx) then we will consider whats best for the club. Players come and go, there IS NO LOYALTY in football anymore, and people need to understand that money rules. I have no problem with Larsson going, as long as it's the right deal for my club. |

I my opinion if he is unhappy and wants out then let him go, if the right offer comes aong then so it e. After Saturday wher es was so poor in terms of his usual standards, as even when he played a bad game last season he was 50% better than he was saturday against Sheff Utd I would rather have a player who is giving his all for the shirt and the cause than one who is now only giving 50% of his talent to us. After all the awards he got and the way the club have brought him up in the last year, as he could still be playing in the 2nd string at Arsenal if it wern't for us, as no one else was looking at him and struggling there, we have allowed him to blossom, and offered him a new improved contract, that is said to say he is not interested in at all, show he as no want now to be here, and shows lack of respect and loyalty, which is a way football of today is I'm afraid I was hoping he would be like McFadden in that at least give us 1 more season, to see if we can go up, and he is then back where he wants to be, as if not then I'm sure the club would not stand in his way of going. Keeping an unhappy player is not good for the team morale and could affect the state of the dressing room. I rate the lad and think he would be a key rason for us going up, but if he does not have the desire now to play for us, which showed on saturday then better if we do cut our loss on him. Yes the board will get stick over this due to the comment "Over my dead body" but they are really in a no win situation, do we want a player who is unhappy and not playing to even half of his known talent for us, or get a price we feel is right and then again bring in smeone like Man Utd's Lee Martin, who will give his all, and could in fact be just as good. I do expect this week him to be gone |

Agreed. We won't get any big bids for Larsson and there is no reason for the board to sell him. Why does everyone think he is going and we will let him walk away? We are in a position of strength in this case. He is better off at Blues and he has been offered a new contract. If he's not careful he won't end up in the team if he plays like he did Saturday. He has got to stop sulking and be professional. |
